A crazy adventure story from the »Pinocchio« author
Exciting, heartwarming, funny and also brilliantly illustrated by Axel Scheffler: The adventures of Pipì, the cheeky pink monkey, Collodi wrote directly after Pinocchio , and of course there are a number of similarities in both books. The pink monkey, like the wooden doll, has a tendency to lie, disobedience, and naughtiness. Similar is the zany nature of their adventures and the manner in which both survive the life-threatening circumstances of their adventures (more or less) unscathed.
The extensive appendix describes the genesis of the book, presents the biography of the author and reprints a letter from Carlo Collodi to his young readers dated January 3, 1885.
»With humor that certainly provokes childish laughter at times, and always new, surprising ideas, Collodi has succeeded in creating a great story.«
- Karl-Heinz Behr, dog-eared
»The chapters are full of fairytale references and rich in wit.«
- Béatrice Wälti-Fivaz, skim reading
“Become children from the age of six
enjoy the beautiful illustrations by Axel Scheffler. A detailed appendix describes why Collodi did not want to write the book at first and why he did it after all.«
- Sigrid Kranepuhl-Goeritz, North Bavarian Courier
