After birth, babies slowly get to know their surroundings. Their eyes need time. They see light and shadow first and gradually recognize colour, then slowly shape. Hearing, smell and touch are much faster. Mom & Dad's fragrance and the scent of home gives security and trust. The little hands and arms are almost constantly looking for 'hold'.
